Ramirez, who is a revered pioneer and one of the industry’s most prolific real estate professionals, was most recently the Executive Chairman and Senior Advisor to Brown Harris Stevens, as well as the co-founder of Halstead.

In his new role, Ramirez will expand Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices’ presence in New York and surrounding states, overseeing important initiatives, such as the implementation of innovative technology platforms and services that will strengthen business on behalf of agents.

“Diane (Ramirez) is a real estate genius,” said Candace Adams, President and CEO of BHHS New England / Westchester / New York Properties. “His wisdom and grace, coupled with his unmatched expertise, make him a phenomenal partnership, not only for our New York Properties family, but also for neighboring markets. We are very excited that Diane will be part of a team made up of the best in the business. She will play a central role and be successful at what she does best.

Ramirez’s vast influence, in-depth knowledge of the market, and tireless work ethic have been hallmarks of his decorated real estate career. She broke into the industry as an agent, working first in Palm Beach and eventually in New York. It was in 1984 that Ramirez started Manhattan-based residential brokerage Halstead in tandem with Clark Halstead – guiding the company with a focus on technology and the high-end sector.

Terra Holdings purchased Halstead in 2001, and under Ramirez’s oversight, the company has grown to more than 30 offices and 1,400 agents in New York City, the Hamptons, the Hudson Valley, the New Jersey and Fairfield County, Connecticut. In 2020, Halstead merged with Brown Harris Stevens, which led to the expansion of Ramirez’s role and his continued oversight of the company’s growth. Now Ramirez joins the world-renowned Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices power plant – a natural ‘next step’ in his continued rise.

“Berkshire Hathaway is a brand that I have admired for so long, and I am delighted to be a part of it,” said Ramirez. “Over the years, I have loved being able to successfully develop brands. I am a proven entity in terms of the ability to grow and nurture a business at its roots and turn it into a force in its own right, and I look forward to doing so for Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices in New York and beyond.

Licensed in New York, Connecticut and Florida, Ramirez is deeply committed to the industry. She is an active and united member of the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY). REBNY has honored Diane with three prestigious accolades – the Kenneth R. Gerrety Humanitarian Award, the Bernard H. Mendik Lifetime Leadership Award and the Henry Forster Award – for her long-standing reputation for excellence in residential real estate and her contributions to operations. cultural, charitable, and community organizations outside and inside the industry. Ramirez is an Inman influencer, regularly ranks among the Swanepoel Power 200, and has been named by the New York Observer as one of the “100 Most Powerful People in Real Estate in New York”.
